Robbery, the gift that keeps on giving

The past two weeks I have unfortunately let the robbery get the best of me.  Always looking over my shoulder and listening to every sound around me.  That all stopped Sunday when I made a decision: If I continue to be discomforted, they win.  Sunday I made the decision to get back to my normal confident self.  I decided that if a similar situation should arise in the future I will finish the fight no matter what the outcome.  This decision had a very comforting effect on me and now I am content once more.

Many thanks to all of you who have suggested paypal as a solution to my temporary financial troubles.  However, I really prefer to do things on my own.  I am receiving a used computer in about three weeks and when I receive my next social security check I will buy a camera.  After re-reading my post I realized that it did sound almost like I was soliciting help but that was not my intention.

Thanks again to all of you for following the story of my life in Mexico.  I still love it and am very happy to be living here!

  1. I'm glad you are feeling better. I was robbed once, but I wasn't home - thank goodness! But it is an awful thing and makes you feel very vulnerable. That's a normal feeling, for sure. But the main thing is that YOU are okay. The rest can be replaced.

You didn't AT ALL sound like you were soliciting money from your followers. It never even crossed my mind until I read the first comment that suggested it. I don't give away money any more, charities, etc. But if a bunch of people chipped in just $5 or $10 that we'd never miss, it would make the difference. To you or anyone that had a situation like this. This is the kind of thing I'd happily donate to.

Don't feel bad about the PayPal thing. I still think you should do it. The kindness of many others might erase the rottenness of the jerks who robbed you.

  2. Glad to see you back and healing from your experience. It is indeed disconcerting to go through a personal attack but it sounds like you've got your grove back and are carrying on. Good for you and hope all goes well for you.

  5. I don't think you sounded like you were soliciting either. You have always been very resourceful and more than willing to work. You did exactly the right thing when attacked. The wasp spray sounds like a good idea but don't even think about trying to take on robbers in the future. Stolen goods is a whole lot better than ending up in the hospital or dead.
